ALLY O'CONNELL
Ally started her dance journey with Just For Kicks at age 7 where she studied high kick and jazz. In 2008 Ally joined Sterling Silver Studio and studied jazz and lyrical. She was also part of their competition team. After graduating in 2012 Ally attended The University of Wisconsin Superior and became a part or their cheerleading team. After a year without dance she decided to also join their dance team, where she helped choreograph and started to help with coaching. Through that experience Ally learned she had a love not only for the sport of dance but for creating them as well. Ally also has practiced hip-hop, pom, zumba, belly dancing, and ballet.  Ally is a Medical Assistant for Twin Ports Dermatology. 


ANESSA ANDERSON
Anessa started dancing at the age of 3 at Sterling Silver Studio in Superior WI. She was ten years old when she switched to Dance Escape in Duluth, MN. Anessa than went on to be part of the Superior High School dance team. While on the team Anessa was captain her junior and senior year. After graduating Anessa went on to college at Iowa Central College where she danced her freshman and sophomore year and was also captain of the team. Throughout the years, Anessa has participated in many styles of dances such as Baton, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, Hip-hop, and Ballet. She has also won awards at local competitions and was called back to be in a Kelle Costume Catalog. Anessa also participated in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and has competed in the National Dance competition in Daytona Beach Florida with her college dance team. Anessa is an Occupational Assistant at Ecumen Lakeshore in Duluth. 

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

Creative Movements (Ages 3-4): This 30-minute class helps young dancers develop coordination and balance while building confidence through movement, beginner stretching, and age-appropriate motor skill activities. Students will be introduced to beginner ballet techniques, group activities, and classroom etiquette in a fun and supportive environment. Requirements: Students must be 3 years old by September 1 and able to sit quietly, listen, and follow instructions independently.

Ballet/Tap (Ages 5-7): Students learn rhythm and movement skills by exploring feelings and thoughts. Tap class starts with simple basic rhythm steps to develop strong tap techniques. Basic ballet techniques and group activities will be introduced. Requirements: Students must be in 5 years old by  and they must be able to sit quietly, listen and follow instructions.

Hip Hop (Ages 4 & up): Students will learn the fundamental movements of hip hop. This class focuses on flexibility, body control, popping, and low-centered movements while dancing to fun, high-energy music with strong beats and rhythm. Hip Hop is energetic, exciting, and a great way to have fun while dancing!


Poms: A high-intensity class with a focus on choreography, technique, and performance styles. Choreography for this class is rooted in jazz and hip hop while integrating the use of poms. Dancers in Poms will learn fundamentals of pom positions as well as performance skills while dancing to high energy music.


Lyrical/Jazz (Ages 7 & up): A class teaching basic ballet, lyrical and jazz technique. Students will learn basic terminology and techniques along with learning different rhythms and counting. This class builds on the technique already learned through Ballet/Tap. The class content will be very age appropriate focusing on developing good ballet and jazz technique, stage presence, good classroom skills and creating a love and appreciation for dance.

Tap (Ages 7 & up): A fun and energetic class that teaches rhythm, timing, and basic tap techniques while building coordination and confidence through movement and music.

REQUIRED ATTIRE

Creative Movement: Pink ballet shoes, tights, any color leotard and hair secured back in a ponytail or bun. May wear a ballet skirt or shorts over leotard.

Ballet/Tap: Pink ballet shoes and tap shoes, tights, any color leotard and hair secured back in a ponytail or bun. May wear a ballet skirt or shorts over leotard.

Hip Hop & Poms: Black jazz shoes and comfortable clothes that you can easily move in. Hair secured back in a ponytail. No jeans, dangly earrings, watches or large jewelry.

Lyrical/Jazz: nude lyrical shoes and black jazz shoes; comfortable clothing and hair secured back in a ponytail or bun. No jeans, No dangly earrings, watches or large jewelry.

Tap: Black tap shoes, comfortable clothes that you can easily move in, no jeans allowed!! Hair secured back in a ponytail or bun. No dangly earrings, watches or large jewelry

2025 - 2026 INSTRUCTORS & ASSISTANTS 

LILY MILLER
Lily is a student at Northwood Technical College in Superior. Her journey with ASOD began in 2009 as preballet/tiny tap dancer. She started her assisting career as a 4th grader and is now one of our lead instructors. She has taught ballet, lyrical, contemporary, jazz, tap, hip hop and poms over the years as an instructor. Her favorite style of dance style is lyrical and hip hop. Her favorite style to teach is lyrical and tap. For the 2026-2027 season, Lily will teach the Purple Competition Team and Creative Movement, Beginner Tap, Intermediate Tap, Company Tap and Level II Hip Hop,  Level III Hip Hop & Level IV Hip Hop.


BROOKE TADDY


ASHLEY LECIEJEWSKI
Ashley is a sophomore at Ashland High School. She started dancing with ASOD in 2014 as a 4 year old in Creative Movement! And this will be her 6th year as an assistant/instructor. Her favorite types of dance are hip hop and jazz. She has been an instructor for Creative Movement, PreBallet/Tiny Tap, Poms and Hip Hop. Her favorite dance memory is going to awards at competitions and conventions with friends! For the 2026-2027 dance season, she will teach Level 1 Lyrical/Jazz and Level I Hip Hop on Thursday.  This year she is on the Company Lyrical/Jazz, Company Hip Hop and Company Tap teams.  


RYLEE OVASKA
Rylee is a sophomore at Ashland High School. She started dancing with ASOD as a 3 year in Creative Movement. And this will be her 5th year as an assistant/instructor. Her favorite types of dance are lyrical and contemporary. Rylee is very active - when she's not dancing she plays and soccers soccer. She has been an assistant & instructor for Creative Movement, Lyrical, Poms & Hip Hop. Her favorite dance memory is being selected as a Dancer Of The Year finalist for Celebration and getting to participate in their opening number and be a part of the convention and competition throughout the week.
For the 2026-2027 dance season, she will teach the Level I Lyrical/Contemporary and Poms classes on Sundays. This year she is on the Company Lyrical/Jazz team.  


SAWYER WICKMAN

Sawyer is a sophomore at Ashland High School and started dancing at ASOD in 2015 at 4 years old; after taking a couple years off, she returned to dance in 2021. Her favorite type of dance is jazz and contemporary. She loves to perform and enjoys getting to know everyone in each of her classes as the year goes on. Outside of dance she likes being active and participates in volleyball, powerlifting, and also enjoys downhill skiing along with spending time with family and friends. She will be team teaching the Level I Hip Hop class on Mondays and is part of the Company Lyrical/Jazz, Company Hip Hop and Company Tap teams for the 2026-2027 Dance Season. 


EMILY ROY 

Emily started dance with ASOD in 2017 as a 4 year old in Creative Movement. Her favorite types of dance are lyrical and tap. Her favorite dance memories include getting nominated for Dancer of the Year and spending time with her teammates. When Emily isn't dancing, she loves spending time with family and friends, tubing on the lake, skiing, and participating with the AMS/AHS Cheer Team. Emily is in the 8th grade at the Ashland Middle School. This year she is on the Company Lyrical/Jazz, Company Hip Hop and Company Tap teams. She will be an assistant for the Beginning Tap class on Tuesdays this season. 


BROOKLYNN HARPSTER

Brooklynn began her dance journey at the age of 4 in a creative movement class. Over the years, she has grown to love hip hop, lyrical, and tap — her favorite styles to perform. One of her most memorable dance moments so far was receiving the Hip Hop XPO Scholarship Award at competition this year. Outside of the studio, Brooklynn enjoys playing basketball and softball, swimming, riding her bike, hanging out with friends, and spending time with her little sister, Baylee. This season, Brooklynn on the Amethyst Competition Team and is enrolled in Level III Lyrical/Jazz, Level IV Hip Hop, and Intermediate Tap. She will be assisting the ballet/tap class on Sundays for the 2026-2027 Dance Season. 


MARY SCHICK

Mary began dancing at ASOD at just 3 years old in the Creative Movement class. Her favorite styles of dance are Jazz, Contemporary, and Hip Hop. One of her favorite dance memories is performing a duet with her cousin Lily. Outside of dance, Mary enjoys camping, spending time with friends and family, and cuddling with her wiener dog, Puck. This dance season Mary is on the Amethyst Competition Team and is enrolled in Level III Lyrical/Jazz, Level IV Hip Hop, and Intermediate Tap. She will be assisting the ballet/tap class on Mondays for the 2026-2027 Dance Season. 


RAISA BRYE
Raisa’s first dance class at ASOD was Tap at age 6. She then learned Poms and Jazz. Her current favorite dance styles are Hip Hop and Lyrical. When Raisa isn’t dancing, she loves to choreograph dances with friends, swim, play basketball, volleyball and pitch for softball and snuggle her goldendoodle Otis. Raisa is on the Amethyst Competition Team and is enrolled in Level III Lyrical/Jazz, Level IV Hip Hop, and Intermediate Tap. Raisa especially loves the time spent with friends at ASOD.  She will be assisting the Creative Movement class on Tuesdays for the 2026-2027 Dance Season. 


LUCCA CAMPBELL

Lucca is 10 years old and has been dancing with ASOD since she was three! Her favorite style of dance is hip hop, and she especially enjoys learning new acro tricks. One of her favorite parts of dance is performing at competitions alongside her teammates. Lucca also loves being a dance assistant, where she enjoys helping, encouraging, and inspiring our younger dancers! This season, Lucca on the Purple Competition Team and is enrolled in Level III Lyrical/Jazz, Level III Hip Hop, and Intermediate Tap. She will be assisting lyrical/jazz class on Thursdays for the 2026-2027 Dance Season. 


SLOAN WICKMAN

Sloan started dancing at ASOD in 2016 at 3 years old; after taking a couple years off she returned to dance in 2021. She loves all styles of dance but really enjoys learning new acro tricks. She's excited to get to know everyone and can't wait to be an assistant for the first time. When she's not dancing, she stays busy with cheer, volleyball, traveling, and downhill skiing, and she's even joining a club volleyball team this year! Sloan is in the 8th grade at Ashland Middle School. This year she will be teaching Acro on Mondays and is part of the Company Lyrical/Jazz and Company Hip Hop teams for the 2026-2027 Dance Season.


KORI COMPTON

Kori is 11 years old and in the 6th grade at Ashland Middle School.  She just started her 8th year of dance with ASOD. Her favorite style of dance is lyrical. Kori also likes cheerleading, volleyball, crocheting and spending time with her friends. One of her favorite memories was the first time she landed her aerial and the entire team cheered for her at practice! Her favorite comp team memory was when her team took first place for small world! She looking forward to helping her class learn new techniques and to enjoy dancing as much as she does! This season, Kori is on the Purple Competition Team and is enrolled in Level III Lyrical/Jazz and Beginner Tap. She will be assisting the Creative Movement class on Mondays for the 2026-2027 Dance Season.
